A song written by yours truly to the tune of ‘Shake it off’ by Taylor Swift to learn preterite phrases and endings!
This has been turned into a couple of lessons, focusing on metacognition in the context of learning content to music.

The lesson starts with information on why we recall lyrics to songs from the BBC website.
Students then fill in the gaps to the lyrics before seeing the complete version.
Backing tracks have been included so you can sing in class!
Slides containing pictures representing the lyrics to test their memory.
Speaking activities where students roll a dice and answer preterite questions (could use phrases from the lyrics in their answers).
Finally 6 online resources (Quizlets and quizzes) to consolidate the preterite (regular, irregular and reflexives).
