Recently used successfully with Year 8 as part of the study of Conflict, this lesson explores both the perception of danger as well as the real risk from terrorism in Europe.

Following initial discussion and prediction, students are then directed to complete some simple statistical analysis to test their hypotheses.

Students are then able to use graphical skills to produce a choropleth map, exploring spatial distribution.

An additional activity relating to global patterns of terrorism could be used as an extension or separate lesson in its own right.
