The Prince of Egypt: The Life of Moses
You will need a DVD copy of the film The Prince of Egypt. This is all the resources you need to teach a 6 lesson scheme of work on the story of Moses. The lessons are structured as follows:
Lessons 1-2: Watch The Price of Egypt. Students will complete the A3 worksheet while doing this. They will understand the physical and emotional journey of Moses through the story. They will pick out key events and characters from the story. They will also produce a timeline while watching.
Lesson 3: The Biblical Moses. The students will read the Moses story from the Bible. An edited version is part of the resource. The students will highlight key similarities and differences between the two accounts (The Bible and the film).
Lesson 4: One lesson can then be spent looking at the tone of the Bible story and comparing it to the film picking out how they handled key details. Particularly what is missing. A venn diagram is also attached.
Lesson 5: Film Review Assessment.
Lesson 6 Assessment reflection and improvement.

There are also resources provided if you want to display the film reviews the students produce. The aims is for students to understand the basic story of Moses but also assess whether the story we understand is a safe and simple version when compared to the Bible. It is very easy to differentiate, with upper band students I focus on the difficult elements from the Bible such as God killing Egyptian children, God hardening the Pharaoh's heart etc. and with lower ability students we focus on the more visible inconsistencies in the story such as the Bible not mentioning the Pharaoh as Moses' brother and the smaller role played by Aaron in the film.

I have now made a Kahoot to support this scheme of work
