Writing -from print to cursive script

You are purchasing the mat for the grey added lines. This is in essence a Ruth Miskin adapted resource. I have added her rhymes as an aid for you to support children move into precursive writing. The images were copied from free online sources but they are from the author above.

As we know plain letters are the ones early learners see in print to read and recognise. I move children on from plain to cursive by saying that now we know the letter shape and it’s starting point, lets get to the start by following the grey line - this is usually on the line… I chant “We start our letters on the line” as I model writing each letter.
The mat can be laminated for childen to practise during continuous provision.
