12 French Quizzes for Different Levels

12 French Quizzes for Different Levels

This is a collection of 14 quizzes on France and French language for KS 3-5 students, depending on the resource. Most of them are in French but a few for KS3 are in English. The length varies between 10 and 30mn . Most of theses quizzes are interactive PPT so they can be displayed on whiteboard and are fully editable. The title indicates the targeted audience. I use these quizzes either at the end of term or for starters/plenaries with great effect. Students really enjoy them as it's covering a range of cultural topics about France ( medias, geography, history, famous people) and it's a refreshing change from the linguistic side of their French studies. Enjoy!

French KS3 Cover Lesson Design your own Castle / Palace

French KS3 Cover Lesson Design your own Castle / Palace

This works best as a cover lesson. It is easy for non-specialists to follow but supports and challenges KS3 students of French well. Most effective for students with prior knowledge of connectives and opinions, but these are supplied in ppt. Could also be adapted for use in lessons by specialists. Lesson involves: Differentiated objectives and starter activity. Activity 1: team work to look up words they can use to design / describe a castle (displayed in French on ppt) in dictionaries, again, differentiated. These words include: swimming pool, knights, dragons etc. Next slide gives answers to students so they can write down whatever they were unable to find. Activity 2: differentiated translation task using castle vocabulary. Key words provided as well as higher challenge. Next slide contains answers for peer / self assessment. Main activity 3 'apply' task: Differentiated. Students design their own castle or palace. Key words and higher challenges included. Pyramid review to finish.

French Fashion

French Fashion

This was an assignment left for students to complete while I was in France. My Year 9 students had just completed a unit on clothing. The assignment was designed so that students would be able to complete it without the help of a French teacher. It was also used to give some background information on Christian Dior, as the students were going to watch the movie 'Dior & I' at the end of the week.
