KS2 Taster Lesson (French)

KS2 Taster Lesson (French)

This is a taster lesson for KS2 pupils in French. It follows the theme of food technology (making croissants) but also covers a little general knowledge as a starter activity, culture and numeracy. It may seem slightly complicated but the language (following a recipe) is really repetitive so pupils will be able to grasp it. I used this over a period of an hour and had French handwriting sheets on standby just in case pupils finished early and wanted to practise writing out the recipe in that particular style, just to add a little extra something to their experience. Lots of pupils wanted to take the handwriting sheets home to write out the recipe in their own time. This was used with Y5 pupils from inner city schools at a mixed, comprehensive secondary school. It took a long time to make so please, enjoy!

French Numbers Lesson BUNDLE

French Numbers Lesson BUNDLE

A 60+ slide PowerPoint lesson presentation, 8 pages of French numbers worksheets with full answers included for classwork or homework consolidation and a set of 6 French numbers crosswords, differentiated 3 ways. Ideal for Key Stage / KS2 or early KS3 and equivalents, this will make it easy to plan French number lessons. WORKSHEETS: 3 double-sided worksheets (0-40 version / 0-60 version / 0-100 version). Includes number sequences and mental maths work. They are editable in case you wish to amend them to better suit your needs. There are also two sheets of anagrams. CROSSWORDS: 6 French numbers crossword puzzles, each differentiated 3 ways. Would suit a variety of ages and experiences and could be used for classwork, fun early finisher activity, homework tasks etc to consolidate Les Numeros / Les Chiffres / Les Nombres. There are two 0-31 crosswords, two 0-61 crosswords and two 0-100 crosswords, with all six puzzles coming in these three versions: A 1-star version for lower ability/younger pupils/pupils less experienced in French. This has number clues in English and a French wordbank containing all the answers in alphabetical order A 2-star middle ability version (as above but with no wordbank) A 3-star more challenging version with mental maths clues in French All puzzles come with the solution to enable easy marking In addition I have included in this bundle another French Numbers crossword that is currently a freebie on TES in case you have not downloaded this yet. PRESENTATION: A Powerpoint presentation with more than 60 slides, taking learners through French numbers from 0 to 100. Featuring key teaching points, it breaks them down into small chunks of ten numbers at a time so that teachers can use whatever part of the presentation suits the needs of their class. There are recap slides at various points with tables of numbers and also slides with numbers in French and English for pupils to translate, with answers appearing on the click of the mouse. There are slides with large numbers in digit format to play a game of 'splat' where the teacher can call out a French number and children can compete in threes or so to hit the number on the whiteboard (if you're not using a touchscreen) but this can also be used for other teacher questioning. The last few slides introduce some mental maths in French, introducing words for 'add', 'subtract', 'multiplied by', and 'divide by'. There are some calculations using just numbers from 0-40 and then some using numbers to 100. For children to become really familiar with French numbers it's great to get them playing around with them in maths activities. I use the following words for the four operations: plus - add moins - minus fois - times divisé par - divided by These resources are available alongside some French numbers and French mental maths games and activities in a larger bundle - or you can get the games and activities in a bundle on their own: French Numbers (Complete Bundle) French Numbers Bundle (Games and Activities) You can explore my other French basics resources by clicking on these bundles: Huge French Basics Bundle French Basics Presentations Bundle French Basics Games / Activities Bundle French Basics Worksheets and Puzzles Bundle For time-saving, engaging resources to help you plan Primary Literacy, Maths and French lessons, visit FullShelf Resources

French Numbers 1-100: Teaching, Activities and Revision

French Numbers 1-100: Teaching, Activities and Revision

There are 16 files in this pack which can be used from mid-primary as a learning resources right through to senior pupils for revision. I have printed out the Numbers Vocabulary on A5 (reduced with 2 on an A4 sheet) to stick in the vocabulary notebook or the back of the jotter as a refernce. The Powerpoint files contain the vocabulary for French numbers for beginning learning or as revision. These can be used instead of handouts for pupils to note in their jotters. There are also problems to solve. As an aid to the worksheets and whiteboard problems is the Number Grid which can also be printed out for reference. I use the 'Numbers - Writing’ activities as starters or as useful revision for senior pupils. There are 3 worksheets along with answer sheets and 3 wordsearches with accompanying answers.

French Numbers Display Activity

French Numbers Display Activity

These three files contain outlines of numbers plus an outline of the French below. I have S1 pupils create their own designs (within the shapes) to be displayed around the classroom. It is a fun activity for younger learners as well as providing a useful classroom resource. I have found this to be better than allowing them to do it freehand as you can be assured of correct spelling and readable size.
