Years 5/6 - Why do people believe in God?

Years 5/6 - Why do people believe in God?

SACRE - RE topic based on the question: Why do people believe in God? Questions to stick into book as headers alongside planning and a look at the book of Genesis for good measure. The planning and topic are fairly open and feel free to change as you wish. Ideally, this is for the Warwick SACRE scheme. But, it still can be used for any teacher looking to introduce this difficult subject matter.

Afterlife: what happens when we die?

Afterlife: what happens when we die?

Included in this is a PPT containing a discussion based lesson of approximately 55 minutes. There is a differentiated success criteria for each student to aim for and assess themselves against at different points as a mini-plenary as well as a challenge question to consider throughout. It is a primarily discussion based lesson on what can be a very sensitive subject. For the main activity there is an explanation of how to best present your example and the conclusion of the activity which MUST be read prior to teaching. This was taught to a year 5 mixed ability class but could easily work for KS2. Edit, use, adapt and enjoy!

Religious Education KS2 Y5 Y6 unit scheme Festivals Eid Hannuka Advent Diwali

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS2. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment page and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. I have also written a two hour Flip Learning Project which substitutes some of the lessons as additional extra. The PPT has 10 lessons and 52 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too. I have developed a whole unit work from Year 5 up to Year 8 which I am now uploading. These have taken me hundreds of hours so I hope this saves you lots of time. Happy Sunday!

St George and the Dragon Assembly for Key Stage I

St George and the Dragon Assembly for Key Stage I

St. George and The Dragon Assembly - Key Stage One Slightly alternative version, this one, with just one knight in shining armour amongst 14 pairs of princesses and dragons! You could say, speed dating with a difference! Whatever way you look at it, the outcome is very different from the usual version of the story. The cast is adaptable to any size class - just adjust the number of princesses and dragons! Duration: around 10 - 15 minutes (Reading time just 5 minutes but this does not allow for music suggestions and ‘parade’). Sample Text: Princess 1: (Interrupting whilst preening herself) I’m the beautiful princess! St. George: (Looking unimpressed) Oh, really? Princess 1: (Stamping her foot angrily) Yes, really! (To St. George) And who are you? St. George: St. George, since you ask! Princess 1: (Shrieking) No! There must be some mistake! Narrator: Sorry? What do you mean? Princess 1: Well, look at him! He’s meant to be handsome! St. George: And you’re meant to be?(pauses) … what was it? Oh yes, beautiful? (St. George and Princess 1 stand glaring at each other) Narrator: Now! Now! This will never do! As hero and heroine, you are meant to be in love! Princess 1: No way! St. George: Not likely! Narrator: (Clutching head and holding up notes) Oh for goodness sake! How am I going to make this work? St. George: Start with the dragon! (Aside to audience, pointing at Princess 1) And I don’t mean her!

The Reign of James I 1603 - 1625

The Reign of James I 1603 - 1625

These outstanding resources look at key issues during the controversial Reign of James I. They begin bylooking at the problems that he faced during his reign and the impact of the break with Rome and include his relations with Parliament, The Divine Rights of Kings, Money, taxation and religious problems. The issue of the religious problems facing James I is explored via both the Gunpowder Plot and The Pilgrim Fathers. Whilst interconnected with both these problems is popular beliefs and superstitions which is explored through my resources on Witchcraft. The overarching theme to all these resources is their link to not just the consequences of the break with Rome but ultimately the causes of the English Civil War. Please click on each resource to find out more.

Easter : Easter Activity

Easter : Easter Activity

Easter : Easter Activity This pack contains 86 playing cards (58 non-religious playing cards (bunnies, chicks etc.) and 28 Religious (Last Supper, Bread, wine etc.) ) that can be printed out onto card and used as a fun Easter resource. We recommend that you print out two sets and use them and pupils can use them to play snap with the deck. Alternatively, ‘go fish’ whereby all cards are put face down on the table and pupils have to try to match pairs. In both cases the person with the most sets wins. It is entirely up to you how you prepare these cards, But we recommend that you print them out, in colour onto paper or card cut around the top and bottom card (on the top and bottom left). We then fold the middle section and glue the pieces together and laminate the card to ensure its durability. Alternatively, you can just use the front of the card for ease of use. We hope that you enjoy this resource!
