Syllable Division Review Game

This syllable division word work game gives kids an interactive way to practice sorting by syllable division rules. Students sort by VC/CV, V/CV, VC/V, V/V, /C-le, compound words, words with prefixes/suffixes, and words with blends and digraphs. Knowing how to manipulate syllables can be a challenge for both reading and spelling. Familiarity with syllable division patterns helps students determine the correct vowel sound and provides a strategy for reading and spelling longer multi-syllable words. This game is a great addition to any reading program and Orton-Gillingham method. It livens up your literacy center or tutoring and can be used as an individual activity, with 2-4 players or two teams of players. Match two syllables on the basketballs to make a word and slam dunk them on the correct syllable division rule basket. Includes 84 syllables to form 42 words. Playing instructions and a word list are included. This game can be modified by using only the words and rules you want to practice. A sheet of blank basketballs allows you to create customized words.
