#### Science end of year quiz

This is a quiz i have made and used with year 7 through to year 11 and the students love it! Half the rounds are science related (periodic table, baby animals, biology, famous scientists, music, sport, brands and more!) I split the students into groups of 3 and keep a running total of marks from each round to give them a bit of competition. The answers are on the powerpoint in the note section so don’t panic! I find it’s a great and engaging, educational end to the year.

#### Kinetic energy practical (low ability)

Simple practical to calculate kinetic energy of a person lifting weights, can be used to investigate either mass or velocity. Was created for and used with my bottom set year 9 but could be used with other groups Credit to my head of department for the layout!

#### Gravitational potential practical (low ability)

Simple practical to calculate the change in gravitational potential energy when a ball is dropped at different heights. As an extension, students can also calculate the efficiency of the ball! Was created for and used with my bottom set year 9 but could be adapted for other groups Credit to my head of department for the layout!

#### How Science Works Support cards

These are support cards that will help students with the: key terms in investigation skills. how to write a method. How top draw a graph and what type of graph How to describe results from line graphs These cards will have sentences starters as well as how to calculate the gradient of graphs.

#### An Energy Source For The Future

Students draw conclusions about different energy futures. Students explore a range of energy types that could be used as environmentally friendly alternatives to coal.

#### Physics Paper 5 Crosswords - EDEXCEL GCSE (9-1) Combined Science

These resources are excellent revision tools for students to use at home or in class. Great for fast finishers and students who have difficulty learning the huge amount of terminology required for exams. The puzzles come with answer sheets and word clouds to assist those who have low ***self confidence *** and might need some help getting started.

#### Lighting Audit

In this lesson students complete a whole school lighting audit with the aim of de-lamping classrooms. Students use a lux meter to identify over-lit areas of the school and also manually count the types of lights used. Using their real world data, students make key recommendations on how energy use could be reduced at their school.

#### How Do Solar Panels Work?

This lesson is designed for a flipped classroom, where students learn new content by watching a video in their own time. This strategy provides the opportunity for students to build their knowledge, attitudes and values by themselves, thereby freeing up class time for hands-on work.
