Fractions Arithmetic | Follow Me Cards

(3)
This pack contains 30 follow me cards on adding and multiplying fractions. Early cards include adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominators or where only one fraction needs to be made into an equivalent. Questions move on to adding fractions with different denominators, multiplying and dividing fractions including where cross cancelling is expected. There are two possible starting cards to allow for differentiation. These 30 follow me cards are a great way to revise arithmetic with fractions. Play is similar to dominoes, where the cards are placed end to end with the question to the answers, but each question only has one answer. Students connect the questions and answers together forming a chain, with questions steadily getting harder. Starting with addition of fractions with the same denominators, the questions quickly progress to addition and subtraction with di erent denominators, multiplication and division with fractions, including mixed numbers. Some ideas for how to use follow me cards: -Have students race to connect the cards. -Have a treasure hunt, around the classroom or outside. Students start with the starter card and record the solutions in the table. -Students each take ownership of a card, and then get themselves in line correctly with the answers. If there are more than 30 students, assign some students as ‘managers’. If there are less than 30 students, the first students to connect their cards can be given the remaining cards. - Cut each card in half and give the students a matching activity. They can then glue the answers into their books. You can get this as part of the bundle at a discount: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fraction-and-percentage-follow-me-card-bundle-12129689.

20 Counting Puzzle Strips

(2)
This collection of number puzzle strips is a great way for students to demonstrate their ability to count. A large image is cut into strips. When the strips are placed in order, a picture is revealed. We have supplied two versions of each puzzle. One version in landscape that has the numbers from left to right, mimicking the number line. The other in portrait with numbers ascending from bottom to top, preparing students for later work with graphs in the y axis. We recommend you pre cut the strips to hand to students, and also laminate the strips for longevity if you wish. For an extra challenge, why not combine a few of the puzzles, so students not only have to put the numbers in the correct order, but decide which pieces should go with which puzzle. There are 10 puzzles in total, covering themes of every day scenes, under the sea and outer space, as well as celeration themes including Birthday, Christmas, and Fireworks! These 30 follow me cards are a great way to revise converting between fractions, decimals and percentages, from simple ones where students are encouraged to learn by heart such as 50% 1/2 0.5, through to more challenging conversions such as 3/16 0.1875 18.75%. There are two possible starting points, allowing for differentiation. Play is similar to dominoes, where the cards are placed end to end with the question to the answers, but each question only has one answer. Students connect the questions and answers together forming a chain, with questions steadily getting harder. For extra challenge, don’t use a calculator. Some ideas for how to use follow me cards: Have students race to connect the cards. Have a treasure hunt, around the classroom or outside. Students start with the starter card and record the solutions in the table. Students each take ownership of a card, and then get themselves in line correctly with the answers. Times Tables | KaBoom Card Game

(1)
These KaBoom cards are a fun way to practice times tables, with differentiation built in. Players choose whether they want to choose an easier question (red), but will receive less points for their correct answer, or risk a more challenging question (green) and gain greater rewards. The red cards consist of questions in the 2, 5, 10 and 11 times tables including some pictorial representation. The Yellow Cards consist of questions in the 3, 4, 6 and 9’s. The green card consists of times tables questions which students commonly get wrong such as 6x9, and consists of the 7, 8 and 12 times tables. Begin by laying all the cards out face down (so you see only the number of points they are worth). Players take turns to select a card, either red, yellow or green. The difficulty of the questions will increase. They may also pick up either a Steal Card, giving them a chance to steal from any other player, a Shield, which protects them from the next KaBoom, and KaBoom cards which means you lose all your collected points so far. Play as a whole class in teams, or print multiple copies to play in small groups around the table. If students get the answer incorrect, or they need some help, you as the teacher decides whether you will allow them another guess or not. Questions answered incorrectly go in the ‘house’ pile, along with any cards lost in a KaBoom. At the end of the game, add up the ‘house’ pile. The winner is the player or team with the highest points (including any shield cards that have been unused). The house can win. Included are two copies of the game; one designed for a double sided printer and one designed for single sided printing where you need to turn over the pages yourself to print double sided. Full instructions are included as are answers. This product is available as part of a bundle with other KaBoom cards, at as discount. Click here to find out more.
