Using Resources Topic: Ceramics, polymers, composites and glass AQA GCSE - Updated

(3)
NEW TOPIC LESSON - GCSE AQA Chemistry (separates) UPDATED -** Powerpoint improved, another worksheet added** A new lesson on **ceramics, polymers, composites and glass. **This lesson is intended for separate GCSE Chemists. The lesson is one of those where you stick the info sheets around the room and students fill out a worksheet. There are some exam questions too. There aren’t any exam questions out there about ceramics, glass or composites yet so apologies for not having any in the exam questions. There are some exam questions on polymers however. The exam questions include a bit from the previous topic of Bonding and Properties of Matter. I’ve added a new worksheet to the resource list. This resource summarises some of the information the students have collected. The lesson finishes off with a quick true or false plenary. Hope the lesson works well for you. Cheers

AQA GCSE Chemistry - Using Resources revision.

This resource is primarily for** AQA GCSE Chemistry (separate)** students. I didn’t have much joy finding revision resources for this new topic so I thought I would make my own. In combination with exam questions, this is about 2 lessons long and possibly some finishing off work as homework. 8 page revision guide This contains information which covers the specification points. I’ve tried to group topics together in a sensible straight forward, easy-to-navigate way (unlike the AQA spec). I’ve put a bit of information on the method for the required prac at the end (away from the other water stuff because of spacing issues). There is a colour scheme which groups together the different sub-topics in Using Resources. Quick-fire questions There is a two sided A4 sheet that asks quick-fire questions** related to the info in the revision booklet. I stress, the questions in the quick-fire questions are a tool to get the students to actually read and actively learn/revise the revision notes. I would advise giving students exam style questions after this revision to supplement what they’ve revised - without sounding like I’m trying to teach granny how to suck eggs! Any comments of how this resource could be improved, please let me know. Thanks Louie

This resource is intended for students studying trilogy chemsitry. Included within these resources are a powerpoint, worksheet and exam question and markscheme for the exam questions. There is a video embedded into the powerpoint to summarise the lesson. I’m not a fan of having about 50-odd ppt slides for a single lesson so I haven’t done that for this lesson. Hope the resource works well for you. Louie

Using Resources Topic: Reduce, reuse, recycle GCSE AQA

**AQA GCSE Chemistry **(Trilogy and Separates) Topic: Using Resources (New topic to specification) Lesson: ** Reduce, reuse, recycle** AQA Chemistry This lesson is aimed at GCSE students studying this new topic at GCSE. It is suitable for both separates and trilogy students. I am not a lover of those ppts people make where there are about 50-odd slides, or have the objectives shown every second slide, so I’ve tried to not do either of those things!! A few of the slides are just graphics making a point and for students to discuss. I’ve included newspaper cuttings and I’ve embedded a video into the ppt so offset boredom and to mix things up a little. Some of the slides with quite a lot of text can be printed out and spread around the room for students to collect information to fill out their sheets. But if you don’t trust the class, they can get the info from the whiteboard. The choice is yours! Included with this lesson are: *** Powerpoint Worksheet Differentiated exam question Extension - for both HT and FT Markschemes for exam questions A sheet you can print out for students who may need more time to take down details from the ppt. Word is used to make the sheets editable.** I hope the lesson works well for you Louie

N.b. the exam questions: -higher demand exam questions are 10 marks long. -The lower demand exam questions are 13 marks long I hope the lesson works out well for you! Cheers Louie

**PAPER 2 REVISION - Updated 2019 edition AQA GCSE - common 4&6 mark exam questions Audience - GCSE separate chemistry and chemistry content in trilogy science This is a sizeable, yet concise revision booklet for both separate chemists and Trilogy students. To accompany my booklet, I’ve condensed lots of exam questions to make a pack to just include 4&6 mark questions. The exam questions also come with an edited markscheme. This resource covers all topics except quantitative chemistry. There is a lot more than one lesson worth of material here. This could be used for several lessons. There is higher tier content in the booklets. Topic 6 – The rate and extent of chemical change Topic 7 – Organic chemistry Topic 8 – Chemical analysis Topic 9 – Chemistry of the atmosphere Topic 10 – Using the Earth’s resources. The focus of the revision guide is to focus students’ learning on how they ought to answer common questions. The revision booklet can be used as a reference booklet to help students tackle exam questions. Please note, as this spec is new, there aren’t many new spec exam questions. Also, I haven’t put any specimen paper questions in here as I know we all like to use them as mock paper questions. Anyway, hope your students get what they need from this. Cheers Louie

Forgiveness Assembly - suitable for church schools

(1)
This is an assembly on forgiveness. I, like many other people aren’t keen on those assemblies that have huge text on the screen when it’s not necessary. This assembly has Christian themes throughout and so would suit a church/christian ethos school setting. The assembly includes two videos which are embedded into the powerpoint itself so there’s no need to keep coming out of the presentation to show the videos. There’s a prayer and a time for reflection towards the end too.

Friendship Assembly - Christian based

A simple, straight forward assembly on friendship. This assembly is aimed at KS2 and younger KS3. It has plenty of videos to show the pupils. The assembly would be suited for a church/Christian school. There is a prayer and bible quote towards the end. The videos are embedded so should play with a click. If IT is against you that day, there are hyperlinks to all the videos on YouTube. The individual videos are included along with the assembly download; helpful if you don’t have internet connection where you do the assembly. Hope the resource works well for you. Louie

28.3 amines as nucleophiles and their synthesis

A worksheet to accompany the A2 lesson on amines as nucleophiles and their synthesis. The worksheet created is based around the AQA A level textbook published by Oxford Publishers. The worksheet takes the students through what is contained in the textbook. This is mainly a comprehensive task - my students like these sort of sheets so hopefully your students do too. Please note, there is no markscheme for this resource as most of the answers are found in the relevant textbook pages. Thanks Louie

Hello all, my year 12s liked some of my perfect answers I gave them every so often. So I have compiled some together for the Polymer Revolution topic and the Atmosphere Topic. It prints out nicely on a back-to-back A5 booklet and the pupils quite like them. \n\nI have stared at this resource long and hard so some fresh eyes would be appreciated! If there are any glaring errors please let me know. \n\nOh, also, if you do download it, please do give me some feedback in the comments. \n\nCheers and blessings!

Nomenclature

Naming of alcohols, alkanes and alkenes. This is a revision tool cum worksheet. I stress, I intended this solely for my AS class but as I have been a net taker of resources from this site I thought it'd be courteous to reciprocate! Anyhow, I have tried to cheer up a dull topic by adding (bad) humour. I&'ve been looking at this resource for ages so fresh eyes spotting any glaring errors would be appreciated. Get back to me if there&';s any other suggestions. Finally, this is a working progress so I'll be adding to be an aide to A2 organic nomenclature. God bless
