This is a resource created for Component 3 of the BTEC TECH Performing Arts course. This is for DANCERS taking the course and should be delivered after the EXAM LAUNCH as an introduction to the theme and to allow students to generate some initial ideas. The PPT has links to dance pieces that might inspire students, it also has two creative tasks based on the stimulus BLANK CANVAS and Disadvantaged Children. It includes opportunity and a sheet for students to record their ideas in rough format ready for the SKILLS LOG task. All sheets and resources needed are included. The ideas log should be printed A3 for best results.

This is a complete bundle that will help to support students in the first Phase of COMPONENT 3. The pack includes an exam launch introducing the theme, marking criteria and potential inspiration and ideas. It also includes an initial workshop to explore the stimulus set for 2019. In addition the pack includes a motif development lesson for students to start to build and track their ideas- many of my students had got 1 mins worth of material from this lesson alone. A storyboarding lesson allows students to develop the motifs created and to start to formulate ideas about set/props/music/dancers needed for each section. To complete the pack I have included a theory lesson so that students can prepare for their IDEAS LOG written task, this includes a slide that can be printed A3 for them to bulletpoint their ideas for the task. And a template to practise on.

This is the 4th Workshop for 5 soldiers for the BTEC TECH component 1. Students explore the concept of the skydiving section where soldiers jump out of the plane. It encourages students to build up movement material using improvisation and visual stimulus of skydiving formations. This creates excellent groupwork that can then be filmed for evidence.

This is a handy rehearsal pack i have given to students, it features some of the choreographic devices cards which give them ideas/starting points/techniques to create movement and explores motif development through ASDR, it also includes a rehearsal schedule, personal management checklist and meeting log for them to track their progress.

This is a huge bundle with resources for the BTEC TECH AWARD Component 3. It includes: A techniques lesson where students can use 4 different methods to create movement quickly. Skills log prep theory lesson ppt with planning sheets, guidance and a paddy mcguiness themed peer assessment task. Literacy Mat for skills log with guidance, key spellings, interesting connectives and space to add detail about the component 1 practitioners. Rehearsal pack including personal management checklist, rehearsal schedule and meeting log and choreographic toolcards- to give students lots of ideas in rehearsal including methods of creating movement and ways to develop a motif.

This is part one of a CATS production route booklet that i have made for students studying the BTEC TECH route. The booklet features introductions, space for students to complete moodboard tasks and face plans to complete initial designs and make final choices for their work. There is also a section for them to research techniques etc and include photos of their attempts. This has suited some of my weakest students really well.

This is a student booklet for COMPONENT 3, It has a few dance related pages but could be adapted easily for drama to include technique pages etc. The rest is fully generic so can be used for either discipline this features the following pages: Breakdown of criteria and theme brief. Local Community mindmap of areas to consider. Mind map page Pitch page for students to formulate an idea for a piece that they can share with their group. Final group idea page with space to justify how the idea meets each section of the brief. A scene/section planning table to note down the structure of their piece scene by scene. Rehearsal logs x8 to log what they are working on, targets and actions for the next rehearsals. Techniques grid to allow them to tick off and make notes when devising for dance- this could be easily adapted to fit dramatic techniques instead Verbal feedback log Choreographic devices page with information to help students when devising/developing. This SOW was created to meet the COVID safety guidelines whilst we teach Dance in a classroom. The entire SOW is adapted so students are doing practical work at a desk throughout. Our y7 students have loved this BUT could easily be used for other ks3 year groups too! We used the Spinners and Dice available from YPO as resources to accompany this although this could easily work with a home made spinner or coloured sticks etc. This comes complete with a knowledge organiser, DO NOW task sheets and a full Dance Vocabulary Quiz for students to be tested on their knowledge. It also comes with a bingo grid for students to track progress and for teachers to mark. The booklet attached is for Performing arts so only the DANCE section (the first few pages is used)

This resource includes a few slides of information that students can use for inspiration for the Component 3 brief “Vantage point” It also includes a Pitch sheet for students to complete featuring space for them to fully plan their initial ideas onto one sheet. I will be then sharing all the pitches with the class for them to see who might have similar ideas to them before making groups. This could also just be used as an exploration task and evidence generating for the component.

This is a remote learning lesson for Swan Lake Reloaded. It includes a series of tasks where students need to identify, describe and evaluate stylistic features of the piece. Video links are includeded in the ppt for students to watch and compare. This is a lesson created for remote learning. It is the first in a series of work called DANCE THROUGH THE DECADES where students will study a range of styles from various era’s. In this first lesson students are asked to study the CHARLESTON, they are given a brief to create a series of information sources for a new exhibition and the lesson focuses around the key stylistic features of the style through watching and writing about it. This is a remote learning lesson based on breakdance, comes with Bingo style activities, extended writing challenges using PIE structure, a judging challenge where students vote for their winner in a break dance battle plus a practical challenge. Includes full powerpoint with embedded videos and a word document for students to fill out or alternatively to set as an assignment for them to add to live during the lesson.

This resource is a task for students to create a knowledge organiser based on the Physical Skills needed in Dance. It includes the task and a helpful ppt of information that they can use to help them get started. THis was useful in helping students to be able to understand the Physical Skills before they had to really use that knowledge in their milestone reviews/evaluations of themselves/peers
