Lesson 1: Predict from objects, Wordle, picture and blurb from the story. For the objects, you will have to make your own props. I got some children from another class to help me make a magician’s top hat and wand and printed out some images of magic show tickets. Lesson 2: Inferring from pictures in the book. Task sheet: Write feelings inside the outline of the man. Outside the outline, children could justify their inferences with the body language expressed in the picture e.g. Leon is hiding behind a girl, which suggests that he is feeling nervous.
