Queries that our Enrolment Advisors can assist with

Are you considering a career in teaching, developing your teaching career or just need some advice? Find out how our Enrolment Advisors can help.

Deciding which route to take to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) can be daunting, especially when there are many different routes into teaching.

While there is a lot of information online about how to get into teaching and develop your teaching career, such as this handy routes to teaching infographic, we understand that it can still be unclear and difficult to navigate, and sometimes a conversation is the best way forward.

Our team of expert Enrolment Advisors here at Tes Institute are here to help guide and determine which option is best for you. Speaking with one of our dedicated Enrolment Advisors will equip you with the information needed so you can make a well-informed decision about your future career prospects and find the course to suit you and your experience.

Here’s how an Enrolment Advisor can help you during a call

  • Run through the eligibility criteria of the course that you are interested in (if you already know what course you wish to opt for).
  • Discuss your current situation and give relevant information based on your situation in relation to our programmes.
  • Inform you about alternative programmes that you might qualify for.
  • Talk you through the next steps that you need to take, whether it be applying for a course, speaking to a school or speaking to another organisation in relation to our programme.
  • Send you the relevant information you need via email which you can also show to your school.
  • Guide and support you through the process of completing and submitting your application form.
  • Remind you that we are on hand to help at every stage and you can contact us whenever queries arise from yourself or your school.

Here are some things we may not be able to assist you with (although we will try our best to help)

1. Placing you in a school – either for employment or as a placement as part of our Straight to Teaching and Assessment Only programmes

How we will try to help:

  • If you are looking for a role within a school, we recommend you visit the Tes Jobs site.
  • If you are in discussion with a particular school regarding a role, we can advise which course may be appropriate and available for that setting, and we are also happy to provide information that you can pass on to the senior members of the school so you can find out if they will support your training.
  • In regards to a placement as part of our Straight to Teaching and Assessment Only programmes, we can advise which type of school your placement will need to be in, but it will be your responsibility to arrange the placement.

2. Confirming what salary or funding arrangement your school will put in place.

How we will try to help:

  • We can only advise generally or provide typical examples, but this is something that you will need to discuss with your school.

3. Advising on teaching and development programmes offered by other providers.

How we will try to help:

  • If you need information about what other providers offer, your best option is to speak to that course provider directly. For general advice on all providers and routes in teaching across England and internationally, you can contact Get Into Teaching
