About this SEND CPD course

Ofsted has placed a great deal of emphasis on all teachers' responsibility for achieving progress and high aspirations for SEN students.

This online continuing professional development course is a road map of eight key themes essential to High Quality Teaching for SEND, including Differentiation, Assessment and deployment of support staff. It showcases inclusive practice in English, Maths, Science, Design and Technology from Parkfields School and Maltings Academy.

Based on Year 5 to Year 10, this special educational needs and disabilities course is built around 16 short films of outstanding classrooms practice and teacher and pupil interviews. You will hear teachers discuss key elements of their inclusive teaching practice and extracts from inspirational interviews with colleagues and pupils.

Five additional films are included featuring professional dialogues between the course authors, Dr. Amelia Roberts and Gill Brackenbury (Director of SENJIT, UCL Institute of Education). Each section offers further links to useful research and resources.

Whilst examples are pulled from Middle and Secondary Schools, many of the SEND strategies, resources and practical techniques demonstrated will be helpful to colleagues from all sectors and levels.

You will engage interactively with other teachers, supported by the course tutor in online discussions. This ensures that course materials and resources are proactively linked to your own context and practice.
