Fill your classrooms with subject specialists

Do you need more teachers for certain shortage subjects, or have staff teaching outside their main subject area? Then our Subject Knowledge Enhancement for Teachers (SKE) programme is a cost-effective way to increase the number of subject specialists at your school.

Available in 10 shortage subjects (biology, chemistry, computing, English, French, geography, German, mathematics, physics and Spanish), our SKE courses are split into 11 subject-specific sessions. These sessions will help your teachers gain subject confidence, develop ideas and techniques to use in the classroom, and put this knowledge into context through the lesson planning assignments.

Will this affect my teacher's teaching timetable?

Due to the online delivery, our SKE courses for teachers are flexible enough to fit around your teacher's timetable and other commitments. They have up to a year to complete the course.
What do I need to provide?

The final task involves the teacher planning two lessons, teaching them, gaining feedback from pupils and writing a self-reflected, detailed evaluation of their lessons. So your school will need to make provisions for them to be able to teach at least two lessons in their subject towards the end of their course.
Is there tutor support available?

We provide a subject specialist pathway tutor who will guide your teacher’s progress and coach their subject knowledge and skill development. All our tutors are experienced teachers and will provide hints and tips to try in the classroom.

Designed to fit around a busy timetable

Available in biology, chemistry, computing, English, French, geography, German, mathematics, physics and Spanish, our 100% online, tutor-supported, 42-week courses are written by experienced teachers.

They're equivalent to 5-7 hours of learning a week – so your staff can fit study around their busy schedules.

Personal tutor support

Your teachers will be supported by a personal pathway tutor – a specialist in their chosen subject – who will mentor and work with them throughout their course.

Cost

Costing £1,250 (plus VAT*), this programme can be completed alongside your staffs' existing teaching commitments, allowing them to develop in a flexible way while they continue to teach at your school.

*Subject to exceptions, VAT will be charged at the rate of 20 per cent.
