About Beechwood School

Beechwood School is a co-educational academy school based in Slough for students aged 11-18. It is a non-denominational school.

The school has over 900 students. It is also part of the The Schelwood Trust.

As students enter school with such a broad range of skills and achievements, the school organises teaching groups in ability sets for a number of subjects. Furthermore, at key stage 4 the school offers a range of different pathways. Academic and applied routes exist. Some students also engage in vocational learning in partnership with local training providers.

Values and vision

Beechwood School wants all its students to have the challenges and support they need to learn at an accelerated rate. The school also ensures that its most able and talented students have a special programme. Indeed, to accelerate the learning and achievement of key stage 4 students there exists an additional period each day. This complements the seminars, workshops and tutorials that take place after school, at weekends and during school holidays. Learning at the school is not merely viewed as a 9.00am to 3.00pm activity. The school considers itself to be a community school open for learning for many more hours a week than is the norm.
