About Bluecoat Beechdale Academy
School of the Year Award
Bluecoat Beechdale Academy was hugely proud to receive the School of the Year Award at the Nottingham Post Education Awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, 29th November 2017, after judges unanimously agreed the Academy had made such incredible progress, it truly deserved the special recognition.
Bluecoat Beechdale Academy was also nominated in a number of other categories at the ceremony, including ‘most improved student’ and ‘inspirational support staff of the year.’
We are proud of both Rosie Campbell for being shortlisted and runner up in the Most Improved Student and to Mr Alan Butters crowned winner of Support Staff of the Year. Alan has been the ‘dodgeball king’ of Bluecoat Beechdale Academy for the past ten years, coaching the key stage four team to victory in the city championships with an incredible nine years in succession. As well as helping to secure gold awards in the game across all age groups and organising an annual 24-hour charity dodgeball tournament, Alan also leads the academy’s volunteering programme – which has seen it become the first in the country to receive the Lord Lieutenant’s award for promoting voluntary service.
It was a fantastic evening and a real privilege to share with the staff, parents and students who were utterly delighted.
