About British Vietnamese International School - Hanoi - Royal City
BVIS, Hanoi is a state of the art, purpose-built school which opened in August 2013 in a desirable commercial and residential location, adjacent to the Royal City shopping mall and apartment complex in the Thanh Xuan district of Hanoi. The campus is organized around three buildings which house the Early Years Centre, the Primary School and the Secondary School, featuring exceptional facilities including two large libraries, a theatre, an auditorium, an indoor 25m swimming pool, two sports halls and grass playing fields. The school also has available specialist suites for Science, Music, IT, Art, Dance and Drama.
Originally part of an independent group of schools in Vietnam, BVIS Hanoi, along with the three sister schools became a part of the Nord Anglia family of schools in 2015.
Nord Anglia Education is the world’s leading premium schools organisation. We are a fast-paced and growing family of 66 international schools in China, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and The Americas, providing outstanding education to more than 66,000 students from preschool through to the end of secondary education. Our schools are united by one philosophy—we are ambitious for our students, our people and family of schools. This means that we want every student to achieve more than may have ever thought possible, which we ensure through personalised learning enhanced with unique global opportunities.
Each Nord Anglia Education school is unique in character and designed to meet the needs of its community. We believe that being part of our family of 66 schools gives them a special advantage. Working together, we can achieve more than we can individually. Our schools have a wide range of resources and support to enhance our students’ success. We also create unique opportunities to benefit our students and people such as the Global Campus, Nord Anglia University, and our collaborations with The Juilliard School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and King’s College London
BVIS Hanoi is the first of its kind in Hanoi to offer a dual-language, integrated curriculum modelled on the National Curriculum for England whilst committing to nurturing and celebrating Vietnamese language and culture. Students reach high literacy levels in both English and Vietnamese by the end of Primary school. The International Early Years and International Primary Curriculum models are used extensively. The use of English as the medium of instruction gradually increases as students progress through the school. We are proud to call ourselves an international school that is additively bilingual. Enquiry-based learning in Key Stage 3 leads into Cambridge International Examination IGCSE and International A Level examination courses.
Whatever the nationality of the students, there is a respect for and a deliberate nurturing and safeguarding of the Vietnamese language, culture and heritage. These schools are the first in Vietnam to offer the “Best of Both Worlds”.
BVIS, Hanoi is staffed with dedicated, skilled and committed teachers, ensuring the education on offer is amongst the very best available anywhere in the world. All of the teaching staff are well-qualified with relevant curriculum experience, are content and language instructors so that we can truly say that students gain full bilingual proficiency by the time they graduate. There are extensive professional learning opportunities for all staff.
The mission of BVIS is to ensure that all students become responsible global citizens with a world vision, whilst having a clear Vietnamese perspective, either as a Vietnamese national or as a result of studying at the school here in Vietnam.
