About Chancellor's School
We are now a specialist college for Mathematics and Computing, and, as such, we are developing and expanding our roles in those two areas. This means not only do we have improved facilities and challenging targets for our pupils in these areas, but also that we are seeking to develop our role in working with our family of primary schools and our local community.
Principles and Rationale
All pupils can achieve at school. The purpose of this learning and teaching policy is to ensure that teachers are aware of their central role in maximising effective learning by using appropriate teaching strategies.
Pupils learn in different ways. Preferred learning styles of pupils include kinaesthetic (physical), auditory and visual. By understanding pupils’ preferred learning styles teachers can better organise management and pedagogical strategies to enable all to achieve.
The purpose of management structures for learning and teaching are to provide the best atmosphere for learning to take place, to promote good practice and to monitor, review and plan for improvement.
• To provide a framework for teachers and pupils to plan strategies to maximise achievement and attainment.
• To enable the school to monitor standards achieved
• To provide a context for School Self Evaluation and School Improvement Planning
