About Dyatmika School

Vision: Education for a better world

Why work with us at Dyatmika?

You will experience a vibrant, rewarding teaching experience and lifestyle in Bali, Indonesia. We provide a competitive package and the opportunity to work in a successful, professionally run school alongside warm and supportive colleagues. We have high expectations of our students and they are a pleasure to teach.

The school and its community

Dyatmika is an established, not for profit school that reinvests its income back into the school and lives its vision on a daily basis. Our Board of Governors and parent body are very supportive.

Our beautiful, purpose built school site overlooks a green belt area of rice paddies and the beach by the Indian Ocean.

Learning at Dyatmika

International teachers teach the Cambridge International Programme from the start of Primary to IGCSEs, AS and A Levels. This curriculum is augmented through a programme of field trips and camps. Extra-curricular activities and the Balinese cultural programme mean that students have a wide variety of opportunities to broaden their horizons and find their passion.

Our students

Our students are respectful and talented young people who make teaching here truly rewarding. Student leadership is strong and works in a partnership with teachers and parents. Students’ academic success means they go on to universities and colleges in Indonesia and throughout the world, including the UK, Australia, the Netherlands, Japan and Indonesia.

Our teachers

Our international teachers are well qualified and experienced, with the majority coming from the UK, Australia and the EU. Our International Teachers and Heads of School work collegially with their Indonesian counterparts to plan and deliver teaching programmes based on current, effective teaching and learning strategies.

At Dyatmika we value our teachers and promote Professional Development. International teachers are provided with Indonesian language lessons at school.

Bali lifestyle

In addition to excellent accommodation and fascinating intercultural opportunities, teachers enjoy a whole range of leisure activities including relaxing on the beach; a range of water and land based sports; a vibrant music, yoga and salsa dancing scene; world class literary, film and food festivals; workshops on a wide range of interests; wonderful, diverse food.

Bali is situated in a fascinating part of the world. Our teachers enjoy weekend breaks within Bali and the off-shore islands. The airport gives easy access to the region and other international destinations.

More about our school

The Dyatmika Learner Profile

Dyatmika’s Learner Profile embodies the school’s aims for the development of the young people enrolled in our school.

Bilingual education

In Primary, students are immersed in a stimulating bilingual English and Indonesian learning environment so that they develop as users of both languages. Our outstanding International and National teachers embrace current educational research in the area of bilingual education.

In High School, students are taught in English; Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level programmes demand fluency in English, and our programme provides this. However, our aim remains that our students become part of the local community, with language a powerful tool to enable this goal. Bilingualism is maintained with the provision of first language Bahasa Indonesia classes, together with second language classes that support the development of all students’ Indonesian language level.

A warm and caring school community

Dyatmika School has a strong and stable community. Many families send their children to Dyatmika for their entire school career. Our welcoming school is small enough to recognise and embrace the strength of every individual yet big enough to be socially diverse.

Over its 28 years of operation the school has grown steadily from 27 students to around 740 students. Students ages range from 3 years old in playgroup to 18 years old in the graduating year when students have completed their A Levels (this is called Class 12 in Indonesia).

What people say about us

Dyatmika is a joyous place with a wonderful community feel, fabulous students and great fellow professionals. I have been able to rediscover my love of teaching and at the same time, further develop my career goals. This school allows ones teaching to flourish while providing teachers with opportunities for pushing back the boundaries of education. The work-life balance is such that every weekend provides an opportunity to travel around this wonderful island or simply to relax on the local beaches, 10 minutes from my front door. Dyatmika and Bali is a winning combination!

- Kevin Johnson Social Sciences Teacher / Academic & Pastoral Leader

Arriving at Dyatmika was like stepping into a serene, green oasis with a coastal view I’d only previously dreamed of. My work-life balance is ideal, I have more time to myself and my family than ever before. There’s a great sense of community that makes coming to work a real pleasure. Working with such engaging and respectful children, from all over the world, has been a fantastic experience. Dyatmika’s children are the school’s best asset. There are plenty of opportunities to socialise outside of work hours. The staff were warm and welcoming when we moved; we did not need to worry about any of the details as everything was taken care of by the school. We live in a beautiful villa and I can go to the beach after school for a swim. This move has turned out better than I could have hoped.

- Ben Guichard Class 4 & 5 Teacher

Moving to Bali to work at Dyatmika is definitely the best life choice I have ever made. No more Sunday evening dread; instead I actually look forward to going to work. My work life balance is better than I could ever have expected it to be as a teacher. It was originally my intention to stay here for two years and then try to move to South America; I have just signed my contract for my sixth year and I honestly don’t know when I will ever make it to South America, how could I give up the best job I have ever had in such a fantastic school?!
