El Limonar International School (ELIS) has been providing a high quality bilingual education for Spanish and International students from Early Years to KS5 in the Murcia and Alicante regions, southern Spain for over thirty years. El Limonar International School Villamartín is a mixed, independent, international school for students aged 3 to 18, situated in Alicante in Spain. Since it opened in 2004, student numbers have increased from 240 to over 550, and accordingly teaching staff from 26 to over 55. In 2008, the school, which has students of almost 40 nationalities, was acquired by international school’s group Cognita. During recent years, the leadership and management structure of the school has to developed to see each ELIS school having a fully independent leadership team, overseen by an ELIS Executive Principal.  ELIS Villamartín has a generous and extensive senior and middle leadership team to support with both strategic development and the day-to-day running of the school.

ELIS Villamartín has become a very successful school both in terms of the strength of its community and academic performance. Details about academic results and university destinations can be found on our website alongside all key policy and procedural documentation.

Due to growth and reform, the Headteacher is inviting applications for new and additional teachers. All posts offer curriculum development as well as teaching responsibilities and represent exceptional career advancement opportunities for suitably UK, or equivalent, qualified teachers. ELIS is an educational environment that prides itself on continuous professional improvement: Teaching and Learning briefings, carousels and professional development programmes have permeated school life, and Cognita Schools group-wide PD opportunities are extensive. We are committed to deepening the teaching and leadership skills of all staff who form part of our community. Since 2020-21 the school has introduced individual digital devices (laptops and iPads) for all students in Year 3 and above alongside an extensive range of educational software and training programme for staff.

El Limonar International School, as part of the Cognita Schools group, is an equal opportunities employer that welcomes applications from all UK (or equivalent) qualified teachers, including teaching couples. Teachers would be expected to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school and a working knowledge of the Spanish language would be an advantage but is not essential.

Values and vision

El Limonar International School Villamartín has four aspects which it believes are central to the delivery of its education: a curricular programme of high academic standards; social and moral development; personalised attention; extra-curricular and complementary activities.

The school believes student agency, adaptability and a sense of duty are as important as academic rigor and multilingualism. El Limonar International School Villamartín focuses on students’ academic and social development within a framework of high expectations and care, balance and a sense of responsibility.

The school aims to provide a safe and democratic educational community with maximum learning opportunities for each and every student, and to develop students’ sense of respect and dignity. It also aims to facilitate the development of personal and social values leading to mature global citizenship in a diverse world, and to seek academic merit by stimulating students’ potential. It strives to optimise curricular opportunities for language learning in order to achieve linguistic excellence in a global society.
