Harrow International School Bangkok
About Harrow International School Bangkok
Harrow Bangkok is the original Harrow International School in Asia and is thriving, with almost 1,600 students from over 42 different nationalities on its green 35-acre site in north Bangkok, Thailand. It is a co-educational day and boarding school and is part of a family of schools comprising Harrow School in London (The Hill), John Lyon School (London), and other Harrow international schools in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai. As is the Harrow tradition, we specialise in high quality boarding for students, from Year 5 onwards; 20% of our Upper School students board.
The Curriculum - Supported by outstanding staff and accommodated in exceptional facilities, Early Years, Pre Prep and Prep pupils are taught an innovative and progressive curriculum, incorporating the best educational practice of England with global influences. Older students study for IGCSE and A Level examinations with significant enrichment opportunities. Throughout the School the development of the students’ transferable learner skills and leadership attributes is prioritised. Our students excel academically and go on to top global universities and adult lives contributing positively as ‘leaders for a better world’.
Organisation of the School - Harrow Bangkok is organised into two sections: Lower School, which comprises the Early Years Centre (from Little Lions (toddlers) to Reception) and Pre Prep (Infants and Juniors – Years 1 to 5) and the Upper School which incorporates the Preparatory Phase (Years 6 to 8), Shell, Remove and Fifth (SR5 - Years 9 to 11) and the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13). Students range in age from 18 months in Little Lions to 18 years in Year 13. Each section has its own Head of School, who is supported by management teams, class teachers/tutors and specialist staff. Each Head of School is responsible to the Head Master, whilst retaining considerable autonomy
The School ethos - All that is done in the School reflects its motto, Leadership for a better world. Whether within lessons, or the diverse ‘Leadership in Action’ (LiA) enrichment programmes on offer, we focus on developing in our students the attributes and desires that will make a positive difference to the communities that they encounter, now and in the future. The attributes of leadership; Service, Charity, Teamwork, Creative Expression, Leadership and Challenge, form the core of the School’s philosophy.
Campus facilities - The state-of-the-art facilities include four boarding houses, specialist Science Laboratories, Creative and Performing Arts Centre, Sixth Form and Early Years buildings, a gymnastics hall, double air-conditioned sports hall, extensive grass pitches, a saline swimming pool, Harrow lake, covered outdoor multi sports barn, climbing wall, and flood-lit tennis courts. Staff accommodation for approximately a third of the staff and the Head Master’s residence is located on site.
HBuild: Our vision for the future - The School is at an exciting phase of its journey: an extensive site redevelopment programme from 2014 to 18, ‘HBuild’, is resulting in the commissioning of new facilities and the expansion of existing buildings. By the summer of 2017 the new Sixth Form ‘Rayleigh’ Centre, two new boarding houses ‘West Acre and The Grove’, much improved sports facilities, the Lower School ‘Pullman’ Library, the Creative and Performing Arts Centre and our expanded Early Years Centre and dining/cafe amenities had been completed. The upgrading of the Senior School is now in progress. The project ensures that Harrow Bangkok has the high quality resources needed to deliver an education fit for the 21st Century.
The safeguarding of our students is at the core of all that we do. All appointments are conditional on:
- Acceptable police checks (or equivalent) from the country of origin and from all countries in which you have worked
- Appropriate references from your current and previous employer, corroborated by personal phone calls made to each referee

My son is in Year 11 and is taking his IGCSE exams this year. We were first attracted to Harrow Bangkok as it was one of the few schools to offer the British curriculum in Bangkok at that time. But there’s much more this school has to offer. He loves sport and some of the memorable moments for us are the many competitions he has taken part in, both in Bangkok and all around South East Asia. These events always bring out the best in our students and show great teamwork amongst the staff, students and parents. Thank you Harrow Bangkok for some very special memories.-
My daughter loves school — she has always been an alert and energetic child, and she loves reading. She has really developed her reading skills since she joined Harrow Bangkok, and her English language skills continue to improve impressively in Year 2 - English language skills are so important. When choosing the right school for my daughter, my wife and I decided to send her to an international school, not only to become bilingual, but also to make connections with other children that will last for life. I was very impressed by the child-centred approach to education at Harrow Bangkok. Having an education at a top international school like this is the first window of opportunity. I am so pleased to see the confidence students have here when interacting with each other and with older children and their teachers. When we made the decision to join Harrow Bangkok, we looked at the teaching quality, the credibility of school, and most importantly somewhere where we knew our daughter would fit in. We love the balance between academic and extra-curricular activities here. The emphasis on leadership skills is also one of the reasons we chose Harrow Bangkok. We see her education as an important investment for her future.-
We joined the school 5 years ago. We had a good impression of Harrow Bangkok from an Open House event, especially the facilities. Also we noticed that the children here are very nice, and would say hello to parents and staff - they obviously feel happy being in the school. Most importantly, I knew my children would fit in at Harrow Bangkok. They have lovely friends here, and they love going to school every day. We like the fact that children are encouraged to try lots of new things. My daughter chooses lots of different after-school activities – she does an activity every day of the week… gymnastics, basketball, swimming, art. It’s great that we don’t need to go outside the school community for any extra activities. My son really enjoys music and sport, which is fantastic as before he joined Harrow Bangkok he was more focused on academic studies. He played in his band at the Benefit Bash which was a highlight for us, and he loves basketball.-
