Holbrook Academy

Holbrook Academy is a popular secondary school for pupils aged 11-16. It is located in Holbrook, on the beautiful Shotley Peninsula, Suffolk, and caters for about 600 students.

The Shotley Peninsula is a happy, healthy place – with sailing, cycling and walking among the local passions.  We are a stone’s throw from the picturesque Alton Water, a huge inland reservoir with birdwatching, watersports and walking.  Parts of the peninsula are owned by the National Trust and much of it is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Holbrook is a school for everyone – we welcome all children from across the peninsula and beyond and we treat each child as an individual.

We are an ambitious independent academy with a staff team who are determined and passionate about their work. We aim to offer all pupils outstanding teaching, leading to outstanding progress and  a self-regulated, purposeful culture in which students can thrive. Holbrook aims to be a happy, aspirational, vibrant place where each pupil feels valued and inspired to do their very best. We want to ensure each student achieves their very best from their time with us and grows into an exceptional and confident young adult ready for the next stage of their life.

Our strength is knowing all our students as individuals. Although popular, Holbrook remains a relatively small school which allows us to understand and value the uniqueness of all our students; both in terms of who they are now and in regards to what they are yet to achieve. We want all our students to know for themselves what it means to be in their element and to think of their future lives without limits; living life “to infinity and beyond”. Our school motto is also the heart of our school community.
