What people say about us

The sense of community is evident at ISZL from the moment you arrive. We first came to the school in 2010 as classroom teachers, later leaving to broaden our perspectives and experiences in a different context. When the opportunity presented for us to be able to return we jumped at the chance. Not only did we have wonderful experiences here as teachers, we knew that this is exactly where we wanted our two young daughters to begin school. Plus, there are pathways in place to support all students in their growth through to Grade 12 so it’s a fantastic environment to be a part of. It speaks volumes to the ISZL community that so many people come and stay or want to return – it’s no small feat creating this culture.

- David S., PYP Coordinator

Armed with mostly high school music, philosophy and coaching experiences from South Africa and the UK, I joined the ISZL teaching staff on Valentine’s Day 2006. It has been an amazingly awesome adventure of teaching and learning on so many different levels – in a wide variety of classrooms, across the divisions, in the mountains and forests, on the lakes, on the yoga mat. The daily interactions with open-minded, multi-lingual, caring people aged 3 to over 63 inspires me to continually respect, motivate and achieve. What a privilege to be at the cutting-edge of international education, on a campus located in the most beautiful natural surroundings of central Switzerland, with a wonderful community of students and colleagues who have become friends and family in our home-from-home.

- Bernadette F., Music Teacher and Staff Yoga Instructor

My move to Switzerland in 2001 with my husband was a life changing event. When I began teaching at ISZL, I was immediately struck by the sense of community and dedication of teachers with the common goal of providing a quality education to the students. That spirit is still alive and well at ISZL. I work alongside colleagues who are fully vested in the school's mission and philosophy. They exhibit many of the qualities we hope to instil in our students; creative thinking, knowledgeable, and collaborative to name a few. My husband and I have three children, who have been a part of ISZL from the Early Years to now in Middle and High School. Their comments about life at ISZL are very positive ones, such as "The teachers really care about me and want me to succeed" and "I get to have so many amazing experiences inside and outside of the classroom." As a parent and teacher, it is so important that my children and the children I teach feel valued in this way. My family considers Switzerland to be home. It is a safe, clean and well-organised country with amazing views and steeped in culture and tradition. I feel so fortunate to be in this beautiful country and work in such an innovative school.

- Tracy H., Early Years 1 Team Leader
