ISR International School on the Rhine
About ISR International School on the Rhine
ISR International School on the Rhine is a co-educational international school located in the Rhineland region of Germany. The school provides places to around 700 students aged 3-18, and occupies a large single campus. The curriculum at ISR has a primarily international focus, with a strong German theme. Younger students in the school’s Primary and Lower Secondary schools receive an international education, with a particular focus on English and German-language instruction. When students move into Upper Secondary, they will normally be given the American PSAT examination, as well as having optional Spanish and French-language diplomas. After being counselled on their choice of university, students also have the option of taking the iGCSE examination, followed by the North American Advanced Placement Programme, available in a wide range of different subjects. Alternatively, older students can spend their final two years at ISR studying for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Students are given extensive support as to their options upon leaving school, be it employment or higher education, with the school working hard to ensure they meet the entrance criteria for a huge range of international universities.
New teachers at ISR are given a two-week training programme, in order to familiarise themselves with the school and its network. Teachers are expected to hold an undergraduate degree in their chosen specialist teaching subjects, as well as an accredited teaching qualification such as a postgraduate diploma.
