John Port Spencer Academy is a large, vibrant and energetic community school demonstrating a common purpose and ambition - to ensure the very best learning experience for each and every one of our students. We recognise that every student has their own individual strengths, gifts and talents; our aim is to ensure that these are all nurtured and developed to their full potential.
There are almost 2000 students at John Port Spencer Academy from Year 7 up to Year 13. The catchment area is large, covering 31 parishes. There have been many challenges at John Port in recent times, however the new Principal, Karen Squire expects trust membership to underpin the work now underway at John Port. Mrs Squire said: “We are seeing real improvement at John Port, including in our results. The signs are good, but there is still a lot to do, and with the support of parents and children, we expect the pace of change to increase in months ahead. We will not rest until John Port becomes a flagship school for Derbyshire – one that we can all be proud of.”
