The School

The school has a reputation for being an important part of the community – a popular choice for local parents. The school is welcoming, friendly and purposeful with the children’s happiness, well-being and learning at the heart of  everything the school stands for. The school has gone through a period of change in the last year and is looking for a strong and experienced leader to  build on these changes to ensure the children continue to receive the very best education and opportunities possible.

Pupils

The school has a PAN of 420, with 392 currently on role. The school’s pupils are drawn, in the main, from local families,  largely from the direct community. The percentage of pupils qualifying for free school meals is 17%. The school  population is 72% White British and 14% of students have English as an additional language. 14.8% of students receive  SEND support and 1.4% have an EHCP.

Staff

Working at Jupiter Primary School means working with a talented and innovative team of teachers and support  staff, not least the Danes Educational Trust CEO, Dr Josephine Valentine. She has been a National Leader in Education since 2008 and is a member of the Department for  Education’s Headteacher Reference Group. The school is supported by the DET Central Services Team which covers school improvement, CPD, finance, HR,  governance, IT, resources, marketing and communications. Staff at the school benefit from favourable admissions arrangements for their children in an oversubscribed and popular institution.

Environment

The School sits on a large site in the north east of Hemel Hempstead, just 5 minutes from the M1, junction 8. The school  was built as a new-build and opened in 2014 under the government’s free school programme. It has good playground and field spaces. In addition, a new, separate 2 room building is due to be complete by  September 2021.  On site there is a private nursery provider, Squirrels, which leases purpose built nursery facilities from the School.
