About North Harringay Primary School

About Us

North Harringay Primary is a friendly and inclusive two form entry foundation school which sits in the heart of our vibrant and diverse community.

The school is in a large three storey Victorian building. It has an additional foundation stage block, a beautiful roof garden and a forest school area.

We have a Nursery open to children aged 3+, a Breakfast Club, an After School Club, a range of extra-curricular clubs, choirs and sports teams.

We are ambitious for all our children and have an excellent and stable staff team who go above and beyond to ensure our children can achieve and are well cared for. Our Pastoral Care is a real strength of the school.

Older children can apply for important roles such as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, Reading Warriors and Maths Knights to help build their own confidence and support the younger children to thrive. Our School Councillors are very hard working and keep us on our toes!

We have recently invested in a new Computer Suite and have plans for a new Music Room. Our Budget is well managed.

We work closely with other local schools and are part of the Haringey Education Partnership which is a huge source of support and guidance to school leaders.

Our curriculum

The school provides a warm, nurturing environment where our children love to learn. Our curriculum is ambitious and inclusive. By the end of Year 6 we want our children to leave NHP as confident, resilient and independent individuals, who have the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. The National Curriculum forms the basis of our curriculum but it is designed to reflect our culturally rich community and connect with the environment our pupils are growing up in.

We focus on brilliant basics – ensuring the children learn the key knowledge and skills they need to master the curriculum – combined with magical touches - a rich programme of educational visits, creative arts, sport and topical discussions. Key aspects of our curriculum are:

Being a Londoner - We want our children to celebrate the diversity of our school community; to enjoy what London has to offer and to know where they belong in the world.

Valuing our world - We want our children to be physically active; to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature and to be aware of how our actions can damage it.

Connecting with others - We want our children to be able to speak with confidence so that they are able to defend their interests and the rights of others.

Our Vision

Staff, parents, governors and pupils work collaboratively to form a committed family of learners.  We strive for every child to thrive and reach their full potential.

Our NHP family is diverse and inclusive - we are proud of this. We respect and value our differences, showing empathy for one another, which enables us to not only work effectively together but also to learn from each other.

We provide a nurturing learning environment where our children feel safe and happy to take risks and challenges which builds resilience in our children.

Our children will journey through this school, building a memory of learning experiences that not only prepare them academically, but also help to develop effective behaviours for learning.  This will help to ensure that our children are ready to tackle secondary education, and beyond, as ambitious life-long learners in a world full of exciting new challenges.
