About Outwood Academy City Fields
Chief Executive Officer: Martyn Oliver
Principal: Elizabeth Ford
We are an Outstanding, 11-16 academy based in the friendly, cathedral city of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, near Leeds.
At the heart of everything we do is excellent teaching and the highest standards of behaviour. We champion innovation in all aspects of learning, while striving to develop a school-wide mindset based around mutual respect and tolerance.
In years 10 and 11, students take the core subjects of English, maths, science and PE and can choose two further from the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects, including French, Urdu, history, geography and computing.
To broaden students’ outlook and enliven their studies, students can also focus on RE, ICT, music, drama, graphics, food, textiles, product design, firefighting, construction, hair and beauty, creative media, business studies or art.
In short, we believe that today’s passions can become the foundations for tomorrow’s successful careers.
We also aim to develop students’ critical faculties and encourage them to take ownership of their learning via a Trics course (Team, reflective, independent, creative), stimulating them to investigate career paths and maximise their level of literacy.
As we look to build on our success, we want you to help to take us to the next level.
To help you do that, we work hard to ensure we reduce workload on our colleagues, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.
We will also actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all staff receiving a minimum of two hours’ CPD each week.
We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including a health cash plan, a cycle to work scheme, plus a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy, with offers exclusively for Outwood colleagues.
