About Outwood Academy Freeston
Chief Executive: Martyn Oliver
Principal: Lisa Allott
Outwood Academy Freeston is located in the heart of the historic town of Normanton, West Yorkshire, close to the city of Wakefield. With a curriculum designed to stretch and enrich our students’ experience and a relentless focus on learning - everyone has the right to learn! We aim to promote the highest standards of academic achievement through inspiring teaching and learning – giving young people the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to succeed in life.
It is always about putting students first: raising standards and transforming lives. We provide 2 hours of dedicated weekly development time and access to a range of excellent programmes designed for every stage of your Outwood career via our trust’s Outwood Institute of Education.
David Earnshaw, our Trust’s Chair feels, “It is most important that we all share that sense of direction which will ensure that we remain focused upon our rationale: to provide the best possible life-chances for our students through the educational experiences we offer and the outcomes we help them achieve – ultimately ensuring that they are able to obtain good and meaningful employment.”
Outwood Grange Academies Trust’s Sustained Improvement Plan outlines our focus on effective leadership, quality of teaching, curriculum design, monitoring and intervention, systems and policies, targeted professional development and our culture of praise and recognition. All these strands build an educational experience that is second to none.
