About Sale High School

Sale High School is an 11 to 16 Foundation school with Technology College Specialism. We are an inclusive and ambitious learning environment with continuously improving results.  We have a hard working and dedicated team of staff who provide high quality teaching and learning and strong pastoral support.

‘Well planned and interesting lessons are the norm.’ Ofsted 2009

We are a fully inclusive school, offering the equality of opportunity students need to turn their potential into actual achievement. The school fosters a happy environment with a strong ethos of challenge and support to ensure young people at all levels achieve their best.

‘Expectations are high and are shared by all senior leaders’ Ofsted 2009

As a school with a technology specialism, and a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, we actively encourage new teaching methodologies which harness the vast potential of ICT. Investment in learning technologies reflects our commitment to raising standards throughout the school. We are able to offer ICT training to staff and students and have good learning partnerships with our local primary schools. Students also benefit from a range of specialist facilities including two sports halls, a dance studio, a drama studio and a recently refurbished state of the art library.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum so that students are equipped with the skills they need for life in the twenty-first century. We believe in hard work and recognise success in all areas. The majority of our students continue into sixth form or further education at 16, taking A levels and vocational courses at local schools and colleges. We have strong links with local providers and our careers and guidance is a feature of Sale High School. We encourage students to aim high and to fully develop their potential.

‘Students enjoy school and are proud of it.’  Ofsted 2009

Our exam results improve year on year, and in 2010 were our best ever.  81.3% of students gained 5+ A*-C grades, and 43% gained 5+ A*-C including English and Maths.  Achievement in certain subjects was exceptionally high, including Science where 96.3% of students gained a C or above, and ICT where 95.8% gained a C or above.  Furthermore, 26% of our students gained 5+ A/A* grades.

As well as our academic achievements we pride ourselves on the activities that regularly enrich our students’ experiences at Sale High.  During the current academic year this has, so far, included a Fair Trade Day, a trip to Spain, Radio week, STEM week, and science and geography field trips.  We were also delighted to open our newly refurbished library in January 2011 which has a wealth of facilities including space for over 4,000 books, a mezzanine IT suite, auditorium area and conference room, all expertly managed by our dedicated Library Manager.
