Smithills School wants to provide students the skills, knowledge, confidence and self- respect to grow into successful and active members of society. The school hopes for pupils to achieve their academic potential in a stimulating learning environment and stresses the importance of prioritising pupil's welfare and happiness. The secondary school has six core values: ambition, stewardship, positivity, involvement, resilience and empathy, and implements them in day to day life. Community is important to Smithills School and it wants parents and staff to work together to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all students. The school’s motto is: Academic Excellence: Rich in Opportunity”. Smithills School offers a broad range of extra-curricular activities for pupils to expand their interests and learn new skills, including music lessons, sports clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
