St Francis Xavier College is a top performing Sixth Form College based in Balham, South London, which was graded as "Good" following their Ofsted inspection in January 2018. The College is easily accessible by public transport and with ample on-site parking. We are a fully inclusive College so students are welcomed from all abilities and social backgrounds and of all faiths and none.
Support for new colleagues at SFX is excellent. We have a well-established induction programme and new staff are all given a buddy mentor outside of their own department. We have a generously funded staff development budget and provide outstanding opportunities for CPD both internally and externally provided.
We offer the SFX Oxbridge & Russell Group Programme for students aspiring to go to the top universities and first class careers guidance. There is an extensive choice of enrichment programmes including Young Enterprise, a whole range of sport activities and course enhancements such as international trips to New York, visits to museums, and workshops and talks from sector specific professionals. We also offer education to our local community through our adult education programme.
Our facilities include a new canteen and Starbucks coffee shop, two Learning Resources Centres, a professional fitness suite, a beautiful chapel and a designated prayer room all on one secure site. Other benefits we offer our staff include an onsite nursery, childcare vouchers and a cycle to work scheme.

During my two days of interviews, I identified a number of areas of particular strength and these are: Effective communication ensures a well-informed workforce that buys into the future of the College (the meeting cycle is well-embedded and open) ; a focused strategy and drive to achieve, which permeates the whole College ; a broad range of creative learning and development activities equips staff members to work effectively and efficiently helping you to deliver your ethos and success ; a robust and motivational culture of regular feedback ensures teaching and support staff members are fully aware of its performance and able to work to its strength, whilst addressing any weaknesses ; a genuine and unequivocal commitment to staff development ; a real drive to work as one team across the College, which enhances the student experience and ethos ; consistent and effective management practices ensure informed, engaged, developed, motivated and performance managed staff members ; a genuine commitment to continuous improvement based on analysis and critical enquiry ensures the College continues to develop.
