About St Gregory's Primary School
St Gregory's Primary School is a co-educational, two campus Catholic school located in Queanbeyan, in New South Wales' Southern Tablelands region. The Junior campus accommodates students in Kindergarten and Year 1, while the Primary campus accommodates students from Year 2 to Year 6.
The school opened in 1852 under the name of St Gregory's Denominational School and was staffed by local parish priests and the Good Samaritan Sisters. St Gregory's school motto reads 'Seek Truth, Be Faithful'.
St Gregory Primary's facilities include a large multi-purpose school hall, well-sourced library, healthy canteen, open green playing fields, specialised music and art rooms, sheltered play equipment and culture garden.
The school's curriculum is guided by the NSW Board of Studies documents and covers the six traditional learning areas of Mathematics, HSIE, PDHPE, English, Creative Arts and Science. Other programs include Learning Technologies, Sport and Italian. The implementation of Religious Education is also integrated across all year groups with Mass and prayer celebrations, Sacraments and school fundraisers. Extra-curricular activities are available to students through school programs such as choir, band, chess, public speaking, as well as the opportunity to compete at local and state levels in netball, basketball, swimming, AFL and athletics.
St Gregory's aims to provide students with a strong Catholic education that develops "their own spirituality, relationships and potential to really become the best they can be."
