St Mary Of The Angels Primary School is a co-educational, independent Catholic school in the town of Guyra in the New England region of NSW. It provides education for approximately 90 students, ages 5-12, and employs 6 teaching staff.
The school was founded in 1919, by the Sisters of Ursuline, where lessons commenced in the old convent on site. The school prides itself on small classroom sizes, and has also undergone recent renovations creating contemporary new spaces for learning.
The school has modern facilities set amongst extensive green areas for students to take advantage of. Air-conditioned classrooms, a large library with computer access, outdoor learning areas, a school hall and sheltered play areas. Specialist classrooms are also available for the arts and food technology.
The school offers a contemporary curriculum that is well supported by access to technology. The core disciplines are English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Arts. Religious Education is a part the wider curriculum and is taught in each year group as well. Opportunities are also provided to students to participate in local and state sporting and academic competitions.
St. Mary of the Angels' mission is to provide a quality education with emphasis on Catholic values such as respect and compassion, within its school community. The intention is to "develop each child spiritually, morally, emotionally, academically and physically to the individual’s full potential, instilling self-discipline and self-worth."
