Values and vision

St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy aims to help its students achieve their highest potential in everything they do. A broad, balanced and relevant curriculum helps students prepare for the outside world and is complemented by a set of extra-curricular activities. The school provides strong pastoral care and its community atmosphere teaches students tolerance and empathy.

St Philip Howard’s Catholic faith is a central part of school life. Students take Religious Education and partake in liturgy of many types. The school was designated a Specialist Sports College in September 2004.

“The school promotes students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development effectively. The recently appointed governing body is acting decisively to ensure it meets its statutory duties and leads school improvement effectively. The extended leadership team is starting to take effective actions to secure basic improvements in teaching and achievement. Effective systems are in place to ensure that students receive appropriate advice and guidance on their future careers.”
