About Stantonbury Campus
Welcome to Stantonbury Campus, an 11-18 school with a proud history of innovation, creativity and warm relationships between staff and students, through which we support our learners to discover their talents, to open their minds to new opportunities and to achieve their personal best. Established in 1974 as one of the first community schools in Milton Keynes, we are committed to preserving our proud tradition as a school that serves its local community, giving access to our theatre and leisure facilities and making local, national and international connections wherever we can.
At Stantonbury, success is a journey that involves every member of our school community learning and developing together, being individually known and being challenged to reflect, to lead, to support one another and to develop their own unique character. We are proud of our reputation for the maturity and personal confidence our students demonstrate in adult and challenging contexts and we work tirelessly to ensure that our students leave us with the excellent qualifications, experiences, attitudes and skills that will enable them to take their place as active citizens in a rapidly changing world.
In September 2016, Stantonbury joined a family of twelve schools that form the Griffin Schools Trust (www.griffinschoolstrust.org<http://www.griffinschoolstrust.org/>), bringing exciting opportunities and focused support to inject pace and energy into our journey to become a truly great school within the next few years. The Trust shares our conviction that great schools are built on rich extra-curricular programmes and high quality pastoral care, as well as an inspiring curriculum, expertly taught. It builds community and communality across its schools, promoting unity rather than uniformity and enabling every school to develop its own unique character. The Trust team has collective expertise demonstrated in track records of outstanding school improvement as heads, teachers, local authority advisers and Ofsted inspectors.
Stantonbury has a proud history of outstanding provision and achievement in the creative arts and sport. Students enjoy exceptional teaching and facilities in the arts with access to our own art gallery, dance and drama studios, media recording studio and theatre. In recent years, several students have gone on to take up places at prestigious drama schools such as RADA. Excellent provision in sport has contributed to outstanding success in local, national and international events, supported by access to outstanding facilities such as our leisure centre, gym, swimming pool and athletics stadium. We offer Post 16 bursaries to talented sports and performing arts students and we are developing direct routes into further education through our partnership with Bedfordshire University.
Across a broad and balanced range of subjects, students are taught by subject specialists with a passion for what they teach and have opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities through the Stantonbury Xtra programme.
Supported by a government PSBT grant, our STEM provision (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is being transformed over the next few years to provide excellent facilities and a wider range of opportunities in these important subjects.
Specialist provision for inclusion and health and well-being, is provided by our Aspire Team, through one-to-one tuition, counselling and personalised programmes that enable every student to be supported to succeed. As an inclusive school, we organise our curriculum to ensure that more able students engage with challenging activities.
Many students stay on into our Sixth Form, which is housed in specialist facilities and has its own café and private study area. The Sixth Form is consistently rated 'Good' by Ofsted who noted that 'good teaching is leading to ever-rising standards (Ofsted 2015)'.
Stantonbury is a great place to work and to learn. Our students are proud to be part of our community and staff go the extra mile to help them succeed. To find out more, please get in touch or visit www.stantonbury.org.uk<http://www.stantonbury.org.uk/>.
