Founded in 1847, we are an innovative, forward thinking co-educational, non-selective independent school set in a beautiful 56-acre campus in Somerset.

Our purpose is to enable each child to embrace their individuality, explore their passions and develop into confident, well-rounded adults ready to make a positive impact on the world.

Our school rests on four key pillars: a culture of ambition, a mindset for life, a sense of belonging and a global community. Three key values are espoused by all students and staff: humility, engagement and kindness. Our community is aspirational yet unpretentious. We seek to develop quiet self-confidence in our pupils, with no hint of arrogance. Taunton School received exceptional feedback in most recent inspection report

Taunton School is celebrating after it has received exceptional feedback following an inspection by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate in 2024.

The school has received praise in many areas, including the extraordinary breadth of academic pathways which inspectors stated is tailored to the needs, aspirations and interests of pupils, its truly global community in which pupils are proud to celebrate a range of cultures, and the preparation for students’ next steps which inspectors stated has a strong emphasis on independent living and leadership skills.
