About The Academy at Shotton Hall

The Academy at Shotton Hall is a fully comprehensive Academy in Peterlee which provides a vibrant and stimulating environment for 11 – 16 year olds. In our most recent Ofsted inspection we were judged to be 'Outstanding' - the highest accolade a school can achieve.

Our school which opened (with much excitement) in January 2011 is a fantastic environment for children to learn in, offering them state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to enhance their education.

Our motto is ‘Achievement through Partnership’ where education is seen as a partnership between school, home and the community and where we aim to bring out the best in every child together.

About the North East Learning Trust (NELT)

The Academy at Shotton Hall is the founding school of the North East Learning Trust, a successful, multi-academy education trust. The trust is made up of six secondary schools (including four sixth forms), three primary schools and our teacher training provider, Shotton Hall SCITT.

What people say about us

Shotton Hall is an ambitious, forward thinking school. We always try to be at the forefront of educational excellence and work hard to make sure that we push the boundaries of what is possible for the benefit of our children. Staff who join us will be working alongside some of the best educational professionals in the region.

- Alex Hook, Head of School

“Teachers use perceptive questioning to elicit high quality answers from students. Lessons are meticulously planned and work is carefully pitched to the right level for all students. This allows all students, including disabled students, those who have special educational needs and those few students who speak English as an additional language, to make excellent progress from their different starting points.”
