About The British School of Paris - Junior School

The British School of Paris is a non-selective co-educational school which provides British education of a high quality to an international student clientele.  Founded in 1954 as a centre of holistic education for a British ex-pat community, it has developed over the years into a truly international School.

The British School of Paris has entered an exciting new phase of its development.  The new Junior School opened in September 2010 and is situated very close to the existing site of the Senior School, along the leafy banks of the river Seine.

The School is located in an area of 1.2 hectares and the accommodation comprises 7,300 square metres. The 35 classrooms and specialist teaching areas can accommodate up to 560 pupils between the ages of 3-11. There are already almost 430 currently on roll.

All Junior School classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards.  The ICT facilities available to pupils ensure that they benefit from the latest technology to assist their learning and development.

Sport and extra-curricular activities form a vital part in enriching the lives of pupils at the BSP.  Therefore a very important feature is the multi-purpose hall, which has the advantage of being used for sport, musical and theatrical performances.  The south side of the new school accommodates an Astroturf all-weather pitch and netball/ basketball court.
Life in France would not be complete without a mention of cuisine and the School is equipped with a state-of-the-art refectory and kitchen to provide a delicious and nutritious variety of meals. Currently, 40 % of all pupils at the Junior School are British, a further 10% come from Commonwealth countries and the remainder are from over 50 different countries worldwide.

Given the ‘internationality’ of the school, there is currently an approximate pupil turnover of about 20% in any academic year. This is lower than many international schools and is a testament to the faith that the families have in the British Education system, the benefits of which far outrival the other programmes which are offered by other schools in the Paris area. The British School of Paris is a full member of CoBIS (The Council of British International Schools), IAPS (Independent Association of Preparatory Schools) and HMC (The Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference). By accreditation to these bodies, the school undergoes a regular cycle of inspection by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate which is UK based and, in turn, regulated by OfSTED.
