About Villiers High School
At Villiers, our motto is “For life, not school, we learn” and this can be seen in everything that we do. Our staff get to know every child really well both academically and personally, and our broad range of extra-curricular activities encourages children to pursue passions and hobbies as well as to develop into well-rounded Citizens of the future.
In order that our students have an excellent academic experience in the classroom, we provide a carefully constructed Continuous Professional Learning programme for our staff which upholds the Professional Development standards set out by the DfE in 2016. Every week, staff have one hour in teams during the school day to plan collaboratively and additionally staff carry out a lesson study process once a year in January where they find innovative solutions to teaching and learning challenges they are facing in the classroom. Our support staff also receive regular training and all undertake a rigorous performance management process to celebrate their work. Many staff are completing or have completed nationally recognised qualifications such as the NPQs and several have been supported in achieving their Master’s or PhD. We have also recently launched “Action research grants” at the school with groups of teachers bidding for funding to carry out ambitious research to support the achievement of key groups of students at school.
Our students’ results speak for themselves with many subjects classified as “Red Hot” on ALPS in sixth form and our progress 8 figure being well above average for the last three years in a row. We insist on the highest standards of behaviour so that all students can take full advantage of their learning time and feel safe and supported at school. Our safeguarding programme has received high praise and students learn to keep themselves safe online and in the real world through their Computer Science, PSHCE lessons, tutor programme and assemblies.
We are constantly looking to refresh and re-develop our facilities at school and add to our already beautiful grade-2 listed building. We completely overhauled our ICT facilities over the Summer in 2018 so that the latest technology can be used to enhance learning and we have exciting plans to target our sixth form accommodation and P.E. facilities in the very near future.
We welcome applications from individuals who are committed to making the school a place where all young people are prepared to be successful in life.
