UTC Plymouth, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Cover Supervisor to join the School in September 2022.

Location: UTC Plymouth, Park Avenue, Plymouth, PL1 4RL

FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade E Pt 15-20, £23,953 - £26,446 per annum; pro rata for Part Time contract

Contract Type: Permanent, part-time, Term-time 

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, Monday to Friday

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated and flexible Cover Supervisor to provide lesson cover and support with specialist learning interventions. This includes doing the register, providing cover work set by the teacher and ensuring continuity for students until the usual class teacher returns.  

About the successful candidate

The role requires objective and accurate feedback is given and the behaviour policy of the school is adopted during cover sessions. We are looking for some of the following qualities and experience:

• Hold a HLTA qualification or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
• Experience of working with classes or small groups of pupils
• Experience of working in a secondary school
• Good standard of English & Mathematics at Grade C or above
• Ability to apply good behaviour management strategies in the classroom
• Patience and resilience
• Good understanding of child protection and bullying issues

UTC Plymouth is an educational college for 11-19 year olds specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. Our curriculum is delivered through a combination of industry standard workshop experiences, a focus on high achievement in core academic subjects and industry-led challenges with the aim of offering clear progression routes into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further learning in work.
