Post: Learning Support Assistant (Secondary)

Location: Parkfield School, Hurn, Christchurch, BH23 6DF

FTE Salary Range: Grade 3 SCP 4-6, £19,264 to £20,043 per annum, pro rata

Actual Salary: £14,993.36 - £15,599.67 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st August 2023, part time; term-time (39 weeks).

Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:15 am – 3:15 pm


About the role

To assist in the support and inclusion of young people with a wide range of special educational needs within the school.  The age range of pupils in the school is from 4 to 16 years.  This role will predominantly be supporting children within our secondary age range, 11-16 years.

To support the development of pupils’ emotional literacy and social skills through specific and targeted intervention.

To support pupils’ academic and social communication needs and to support positive social and emotional wellbeing, enabling them to engage in learning in and out of the school environment.

The position of LSA is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and compassionate individual to support in lessons, deliver interventions and support our learners in a wide range of sub-jects across the secondary phase.

  • To have a good knowledge and understanding of a range of special educational needs including social communication needs. 
  • To have knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affect children and young people’s development.  
  • Excellent listening skills 
  • An ability to build strong, trusting relationships  
  • To be resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning  
  • Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in the learning activities  
  • To use positive and personalised behaviour management strategies
