Primary Practitioner suited to Preston?

Required for September 2019:

‘Step Up’ Teacher

MPS/UPS

Our aspiration is to be great in all that we do.  Are you a great teacher & leader or aspire to be one?  If so, Preston School is the right school for you!

We are a Business & Enterprise Academy that aspires to embody our strapline of ‘Bringing Learning to Life & Life to Learning’ for every student every day. We place a large emphasis on the development of character and personality of our students, alongside a relentless drive for improving progress in all of the subjects that they study.

We aim to be GREAT in everything that we do. Our student body are wonderful to work with and visitors to the school regularly comment upon the great learning environment within the school, personified by the excellent relationships between students and staff.  We firmly believe in the core BASICS that the students are asked to follow, and we recognise that teaching is made easier when students are engaged with their learning - as ours are.

We require a ‘Step Up’ teacher to be the lead teacher for our new provision for students who are not yet ‘secondary ready’. Small groups classes will complete their English, Maths, MFL and Reading lessons in our dedicated classroom, giving intense support for those that need it most. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo and SEND team to help ensure the best academic outcomes for the students that they work with. This post would be suitable for a Primary specialist or an English-trained colleague.

We would love to receive your application if you are:

  • passionate about teaching our students and aspire for Preston School to be GREAT
  • dedicated to enhancing the learning and lives of our students
  • ambitious with high expectations of all, including yourself
  • an excellent team member with the capacity to lead across the department & the school
  • committed to continually improving as a teacher & leader

Information on the school and posts can be accessed from www.prestonschool.co.uk/vacancies

The post is subject to two references along with enhanced DBS check from Criminal Record Bureau and medical history check. If you would like to visit us prior to applying to see our wonderful learning environment then please contact Jaclyn Surrey, PA to the Principal, on the email below.

Please apply by downloading the application form from the school’s website and return completed with a covering letter addressed to Gregg Morrison, Principal, to JSurrey1@educ.somerset.gov.uk

Closing date:  9am on Wednesday 24th April 2019

Preston School is a highly successful 11-16 Specialist Business and Enterprise Academy in Yeovil, Somerset.

We believe that in order to enable learners to reach their full potential and for their unique talents to be nurtured and developed, there needs to be an on-going partnership and dialogue between home and school that provides the foundation for learning and achievement.

If students are to learn effectively, they need to be healthy, feel safe, and be happy and secure in school; we must all play our part in achieving this. Our objective is to guarantee success for every individual and much of what we do is designed to find the key that unlocks their interests and skills, enabling them to be successful both at Preston School and beyond.
