About the role

To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and passionate individual to work on a 1:1 basis with a child who has SEN/Behaviour needs.  You will be part of a dynamic support team working in the classroom and in our Nurture Room provision. This role is fixed term for the duration the child attends our school.

Salary & Benefits

NJC3 £18,562 FTE (£14,257.26 pro rata) for 32.5 hours per week – term time only (39 weeks)

Who we are looking for

NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience.

GCSE Grade A – C English and Maths or equivalent

Team Teach trained would be an advantage

Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.

Motivation to work with children and young people.

Good numeracy/literacy skills.

Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.

Completion of DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme

Training in the relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy

Effective use of ICT to support learning

Use of other equipment technology – video, photocopier

General understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.

Caring/training/communication/persuasive/motivating/counselling skills.

Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities

Ability to relate well to children and adults

Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
