We are looking for suitably experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team of caring and dedicated staff. This role is ideal for those who have a genuine passion for helping children particularly with special educational needs, as our appointed candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with SEN. The role will involve working with a named child with an SEN diagnosis. This is a full time permanent position, working 30 hours per week (Term-time only, 39 weeks). The job description outlined for a scale 3 TA is attached (£22,575 to £22,983, pro rata: for this post is £16,789 to £17,092).

What does the role involve?

When working with a specific child the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate experience in:

  • Establishing a supportive relationship with the named child.
  • To assist, with the SENDCo, class teacher (and other professionals as appropriate), in the implementation of directed programmes of support including the child’s personalised learning plan.
  • Providing tailored support to deliver a personalised curriculum for the pupil’s learning.
  • Take into account and carry out the learning support required, to aid the child to engage with their learning as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own.
  • Have the highest expectation that every pupil will make sustained academic and personal progress.
  • Assisting the named pupil with their social development, on an individual and group basis.
  • Attend to the pupil’s personal needs and carry out personal care in line with the school’s intimate care policy.

 

We are looking for colleagues who have:

 

Essential

  • Qualifications to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Experience working or caring for children in the primary age range
  • Have experience or training in using PECs (Picture Exchange Communication), positive handling and Attention Autism.
  • Work well within a team
  • Be able to communicate effectively and relate well to both children and adults
  • Have high expectations of themselves and the care of pupils
  • Have a flexible attitude and be prepared to work in an adaptable manner
  • Are able to support the distinctive Christian nature of our school

 

Desirable

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs particularly children on the autistic spectrum.
  • Experience in implementing personalised learning programmes.
