Do you have a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for students on the autistic spectrum? Can you meet our students’ needs first and then play your part in contributing to providing an outstanding education up to and beyond GCSE qualifications? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young people and help them to be ready to contribute to society? Do you want to be part of an exciting journey to become an outstanding provision, with a positive and forward-thinking team of staff? If the answer is a resounding yes, then this could be a great opportunity for you!

Heathermount School provides an all-round education to meet the needs of students from the ages of 4-19 who have SEND with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Heathermount is a day school; we are well resourced and have excellent facilities set in 14 acres of land. Classes are small (max 8 in Secondary), and staff training is comprehensive. We work hard to achieve the best possible outcome for our students and parents. The rewards are tremendous if you are motivated by improving the life chances of young people and want to have a positive impact on their family life and future development.

Teaching assistants support our students in their learning by either working with individuals or groups of students. They also contribute to the assessment, planning, recording, monitoring, and reporting of students’ progress.

Experience of working with students with autism would be an advantage, but not essential. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic applicants who will make a positive contribution to achieving the best outcomes for our students.

The school has a “Good” Ofsted inspection (Feb 2019) and in June 2021 achieved the prestigious Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as being awarded with the Leading Parent Partnership Award and the Wellbeing Award for Schools. We are a forward looking and ambitious school with a passion for making a difference to the lives and education of our young people.

Heathermount is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students. All positions are subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, Online searches, Barred List check and 2 employment references.

At Heathermount we evaluate applications on receipt and may contact suitable candidates for interview before the closing date. Please note, the role will close as soon as a successful candidate is appointed so early application is recommended.

Building confidence & preparing students for life

We are an Independent sepecial school specialising in a broad and balanced education for children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.  We are a well resourced day school with excellent facilities.  Located within 14 acres of beautiful grounds in Ascot we make good use of our setting to improve students' well-being.  It is a calming environment to help manage anxieties.  Our class sizes are small (max 8 in Secondary).  Students follow a range of pathways, according to their individual needs and take qualifications ranging from ASDAN and Functional Skills through to Level 2 NVQ/BTEC and GCSEs.  Both core and vocational courses are available and students enjoy the opportunity to study business administration, catering and horticulture alongside more traditional subjects.

In summer 2021 we proudly achieved the highly regarded Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) and Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS).  Our last Ofsted Report in February 2019 concluded that we are a good school with the potential to become outstanding in the near future and this is very much a focus for the whole staff.

Heathermount School is part of the Cavendish Education Group.
