We place a large emphasis on the development of character and personality of our students, alongside a relentless drive for improving progress in all of the subjects that they study.

We aim to be GREAT in everything that we do. Our student body are wonderful to work with and visitors to the school regularly comment upon the great learning environment within the school, personified by the excellent relationships between students and staff.  We firmly believe in the core BASICs that the students are asked to follow, and we recognise that teaching is made easier when students are engaged with their learning - as ours are.

This is a team of committed, hardworking individuals who love their jobs and are devoted to making a positive difference to the life of every student in the school. English is an extremely popular department at Preston and the 2 i/c role is an important one in the development of the department. In summer 2019 we were ranked 3rd in Somerset for the percentage of students who gained grade 5+ in both English & Maths at GCSE.

We believe that in order to enable learners to reach their full potential and for their unique talents to be nurtured and developed, there needs to be an on-going partnership and dialogue between home and school that provides the foundation for learning and achievement.

If students are to learn effectively, they need to be healthy, feel safe, and be happy and secure in school; we must all play our part in achieving this. Our objective is to guarantee success for every individual and much of what we do is designed to find the key that unlocks their interests and skills, enabling them to be successful both at Preston School and beyond.
