Job overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and committed 2i/c in English to join our team and contribute to the continued success and development of our English department. The core purpose of this role is to ensure that the quality of learning experiences for pupils is of the highest standard, enabling them to achieve excellence, regardless of their starting points. We teach English in mixed ability classes to ensure that all pupils experience an excellent education.

 

In this position, you will support the Head of English Faculty in maintaining a rigorous and relevant curriculum that develops a love of reading and writing. You will be responsible for ensuring that pupils, develop a genuine passion for the written and spoken word. Your leadership will involve further developing the curriculum, supporting and developing colleagues, tracking progress and ensuring pupils are held accountable for their efforts and application within and beyond lessons.

 

In addition to academic responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the Academy’s aims, values, and ethos, fostering an environment where the English department contributes positively to the wider school community. As a middle leader, you will lead by example, inspire colleagues, and create a culture of excellence for both staff and students.
